Installation for your HughesNet satellite Internet Services
A customer of HughesNet satellite Internet services will be required to have their system professionally installed. This is in strict adherence to Federal Communication Commission guidelines which regulate any equipment capable of sending out a signal (remember, unlike a satellite television service, satellite broadband is a two-way flow of communication and information).
All installations are performed by a professionally trained and certified installer from the HughesNet network. These installers ensure that the process works smoothly from the first call to final installation. HughesNet has invested considerably in installer training and auditing, which means you’re more likely to have a smooth, easy installation, and less likely to wait more than a few days after ordering for your system to be up and running.
Standard installation is included for all customers, and your installer will provide all equipment needed to mount and install you HughesNet system.
Installation of a satellite Internet system is quite simple and requires the following materials:
- HughesNet Modem
- HughesNet Satellite Antenna
- Coaxial Cable Jack
- Two RG-6 Coaxial Cables
- Mounting Hardware
- Ethernet Cable
This is provided in your purchase or lease of the equipment, and installation will come at no additional cost.
The installation process is also very simple and is done in only a few steps. These are:
- The HughesNet technician ensures a proper signal is received in the location designated for the satellite Antenna. This is then mounted and grounded at the approved location. (Usually the antennas are mounted a minimum of 5 feet from the ground and must be accessible by a 25-foot ladder.)
- The coaxial cable jack is installed near the computer and a hole is drilled for exterior cable entry.
- The two exterior RG-6 coaxial cables are routed from the antenna to the cable jack.
- Cables, wall penetrations and mounting locations are weather sealed or grounded where appropriate.
- Finally the licensed installer checks for the signal and activates customer's HughesNet account.
It is important to note that any custom or special installation requirements are not the responsibility of the HughesNet installer. This means that any cosmetic concerns such as the removal moldings, hardware or existing equipment must be dealt with by the homeowner, or per special arrangements with the installer (HughesNet does not assume responsibility for such issues).
